Received an email from same person, poorly written, to do payroll at home, requires you to purchase specific equipment, even offered to purchase for you.

Was trying to research to see if it was a scam. The townhouse ad came up and another one the HOYT, Washington DC, no contact number, requested more info, reponse was R U ready to work with me? Any suggestions as to how to get a telephone number and physical location of this Andrew Samantha?

@Clay: no, we did not accept the ad. We too, are getting bombarded with all kinds of "for sale" scam ads. ADVERT is the tip off to me. In the U.S. they are ads, in U.K. etc, they are ADVERTs.

You actually got payment for that ad in advance? This week I've gotten a few such emails, completely nonsensical, given our audience (trade magazine for chemical industry), and I'm convinced they're some kind of scam. I have no idea how it works, but I can't think of any other reason why I would receive, for example, this:

"I will like to place an ADVERT on your newspaper. So here is the information i will like to run below. And i want you to quote me for 4 weeks.

Brand new 3 BR 2 Bath town home. This is 2 story row house with single attached garage, 5 appliance included. Rent includes condo fee which covers snow removal and external maintenance. Tenant is to pay utilities. Available immediately.
Rent: $1350.00 (Monthly)
Deposit: $1350.00
3 bedroom 2 bathroom
Date Available: Available Now
=============
Contact: Andrew Samantha
Contact Email: andrew.samantha998@gmail.com =============

Hope to read from you again.
Andrew Samantha"

It doesn't even mention the city! (Definitely not NYC at that price.)

I ended up on this page by searching the "I will like" portion of the message. There's another one posted in the comments of a US News blog:
